Library

The Giuseppe del Viscio Municipal Library is aimed not only at an audience of scholars; since the seventies it has effectively become a service which is open to the whole community, with useful books to satisfy different needs and the most varied interests, including those of children.

The library is organised on four levels:
Basement floor – Archaeological Museum entrance: two museum exhibition rooms, media library with projection room, reading room, which is shared with the Museum;
Ground floor: Reference, Info Point, Back Office, children’s consultation room, multimedia room (augmented reality and storytelling) and Internet Point (Sala San Valentino) with three computer stations and two rooms dedicated to the Archaeological Museum;
First floor: Children’s Library, Narrative;
Second floor: ancient “Biblioteca Manicone” library (sixteenth, seventeenth century, etc.), modern library, history of the region and foreign literature (English, French, German).

The needs are multiple: use of the internet point and multimedia room, study and reading rooms, local and interlibrary loans, but mainly the Library is a meeting place.

The flagship of the Library is represented by the bibliographic units of the Ancient Library. This volume is of great historical and cultural importance:
